Kilimanjaro Gear – What to Bring for Your Climb

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, and having the right gear is essential for comfort, safety, and summit success. Below is a recommended Kilimanjaro gear list suitable for all major routes.


Clothing (Layering System)

Base Layers

  • Moisture-wicking thermal tops (2–3)

  • Thermal leggings or base layer bottoms

Mid Layers

  • Fleece jacket or insulated sweater

  • Softshell jacket or trekking shirt

Outer Layers

  • Waterproof and windproof jacket (Gore-Tex or similar)
